Thats not really true. The venezuelan goverment neglected to renew RCTV:s permission to send television through the state-owned ground network. This is because RCTV at numerous times have broken against the rules concerning nudity, advertising etc. They did also play an active role in the state coup (2002) against democaticly elected president Hugo Chavez. They RCTV can however still send through cable or through satellite.
The Venezuelan goverment was extremly kind towards the RCTV.

They were tiny riots, totally overshadowed by the students who SUPPORT a democratic media – which means NOT controlled by a handful of oligarchs.
The new TV station isn't "supporting socialist programs", it's actually the first broadcast channel specifically for Afro-Venezuelans. The FIRST channel ever to serve over 50% of the population with more than soap operas and soft porn.
In the meantime, RCTV is on satellite and cable. It's not censored and this is just right-wing bullshit.
If anything, the owners and broadcasters of RCTV should have been put on trial and convicted for their part in the fascist military coup.

what do you know about whats happening in venezuela do you live here? i doubt it! they CLOSED the channel because it was the only tv station with true national coverage that was against the government...so the mayority of students decided to go protest and the answer was repression with BRUTE force. So dont come here to talk about whats happening in MY country because you have no idea.

Shutting down a state-critical TV channel is always wrong. It doesn't matter if it's a fascist regime that shuts it down or a authoritarian "left-wing" regime.
